It seems fitting that an enormous, brightly painted mural on the second floor of Zero Zero, the new venture from Bruce Hill (Bix, Picco) that opened Wednesday, features a playful Pinocchio stepping on a pizza. The kitchen churns out pizzas from Mugnaini ovens...

How You Can Be Your Children’s Weight Loss Motivation #WeightLoss #Weight Loss #Diet
Jul 30th
Motivation is one of the most essential factors when it comes to children’s weight loss. Obesity in children is a case that is becoming more common around the country, so if you have overweight children, it’s only right that you should want them to lose the extra pounds. Unfortunately, making children lose weight is no easy task. For older individuals like teenagers and adults, it’s easier to find motivation to lose weight, such as becoming more physically attractive or lowering the risk of chronic diseases. Children, on the other hand, are less concerned about appearances and illnesses. So how do you motivate them to lose weight? Here are some ways that you can be your children’s weight loss motivation.
Use Rewards
If your children are very young then you might need to turn to the reward system if you want to help them lose weight. Children who are in preschool or primary school are often educated in school using rewards. This is how educators get them to participate more in class or to be on good behavior all the time. If you wish to help your kids lose weight then you might have to use the same technique. Start by telling your children the real benefits of losing weight. Stick to benefits that might appeal to your children, such as being able to actively play sports with their friends. Next, offer them rewards for every successful weight loss effort they accomplish. Rewards do not have to be big and expensive as long as it is something that your children will like. Examples of rewards may be as simple as a trip to the amusement park, a sleepover, a new video game or seeing a movie of their choice.
Get Them Physically Active
Thanks to video games, Internet and television, children today are a lot less physically active than children a couple of decades ago. In fact, a study conducted by the British Broadcasting Corporation showed that today’s average child is becoming less and less physically active than an elderly retired person. To provide weight loss motivation for your children, it’s important that you find an activity that they enjoy. This may mean trying out a variety of sports, games and other physical activities so you can find one that your children are interested in. Better yet, make it an activity for the entire family. Cycling, hiking and sports games like baseball and soccer are all fun ideas. If your child prefers activities he can do alone, perhaps individual activities like karate and swimming will appeal to him.
Replace Junk Food with Healthy Food
One of the main reasons why so many children are overweight today is because most of them grew up on an unhealthy diet of junk food, such as fast food and commercial snacks. As a responsible parent, it is your duty to feed your children foods that are nutritious and not just convenient. Remove all sweets and junk food from your home and replace them with healthier options. It’s an even better idea to get your children to help prepare the healthy foods. For instance, enlist their help in blending fruits for smoothies.

3 Ways to Keep Up Fitness Motivation #WeightLoss #Weight Loss #Diet
Jul 30th
Being able to muster up the motivation to exercise can be a pretty big task, but it certainly isn’t impossible. Since fitness is such an important factor in leading a healthy life, it is very important to make sure you stay active and aware of your habits at any given time. The good news is that there are quite a few techniques you can use to help get you motivated and ready to move next time you just don’t feel like working out.
Master the Music Scene
Music can be a great motivator when it comes to getting a workout done and over with. It can help you get pumped up before an exercise routine, can keep you going throughout it, and it can help the time fly by faster than you might have thought possible. The problem comes when you keep the same songs on your playlist too long.
Like anything else, it can be easy to get bored of the same stuff so consider switching it up a bit. You can really keep things exciting by creating a challenge for yourself. For example, make it a point to find one new song you enjoy each week and switch it out for one that’s already on your playlist.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep plays a big role in motivation of all kinds from keeping the house clean to getting a workout in. If you don’t get enough, chances are you will feel sluggish throughout the day and will probably forget all about taking time out for yourself and your exercise program.
In order to get enough sleep, don’t drink coffee or tea in the evening. Instead, try a cup of apple cider or hot chocolate so you won’t have to deal with the effects of caffeine. Consider getting in bed an hour earlier than usual and reading a good book until you get sleepy. If all else fails, take a power nap early in the day to increase your chances of getting through your workout.
Don’t Neglect Your Diet
An important part of motivation to stay fit is to eat a healthy diet. Not only does eating healthfully keep your weight in check but it can also increase your energy and vitality to a point where you actually want to workout and release that extra energy. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables with each meal is a good way to keep yourself feeling strong and ready for a god run or session at the gym.
It is important to eat enough protein in order to keep your body fueled, but this doesn’t mean you have to fill yourself up with foods that can weigh you down like sandwiches or meat. Instead, consider eating heart healthy and protein filled foods such as whole wheat pasta, a handful of nuts, a banana smoothie or celery with peanut butter before your workout.

Three Motivation Tips for Your Fitness Regime #WeightLoss #Weight Loss #Diet
Jul 30th
Starting a new fitness regime can be very intimidating, especially if you are just beginning. Many people are concerned that they will not have enough motivation to keep them going for an extended period of time. This article discusses three ways that are guaranteed to help keep you motivated in your new fitness routine. Not only will you feel great after beginning exercise, but you’ll be on the path to great health. Start today!
Set a Goal for Yourself
One of the most important ways you can stay motivated when starting a new fitness routine is to set a goal for yourself. Research has found that people who simply say “I am going to start exercising,” may have great intentions but, without an end goal, they are likely to stop exercising at some period of time. For best results, start slow and work your way up. For example, start by saying “I am going to exercise three days this week.” If you do, in fact, exercise all three days, you should treat yourself. Not only did you obtain your goal, but you started a healthy habit that can improve the quality of your life! Buy yourself a small trinket, go see a movie, or treat yourself to a magazine. All of these things are guaranteed to keep you motivated to exercise. As exercise becomes a part of your routine, start increasing your goals. For example, say “I am going to walk in a 5k.” After the 5k, plan on jogging in a 5 mile race. Keep setting small goals for yourself in order to keep yourself engaged and interested in the activity.
Exercise with a Friend
Exercising with a friend is another great way to stay motivated during exercise. Often, it is too easy to say that you are tired from work, have to make dinner, or need to get home to feed the dog after work. However, if you know that there is a friend waiting for you at the gym, chances are higher that you will, in fact, go exercise that day. For best results, be sure to choose a friend that is at a similar fitness level as you. If you choose someone who is too advanced, you’ll become discouraged due to your inability to keep up and, similarly, if you exercise with someone who is less fit than you, you’ll always be waiting for them.
Track Your Progress
A final important way to keep yourself motivated when starting a new exercise routine is to track your progress. Keep a journal that states how long you exercised for, what type of activity you participated in, how you felt before, during, and after the activity and, if possible, how many calories you burned. This will be very helpful to monitor changes in your current fitness level and weight.
